最も好きな映画監督は誰でしょう？

僕の場合は、断トツで「フランソワ・トリュフォー」です。
フランス、ヌーヴェルウヴァーグの旗手として、ゴダールやロメールとともに知られている映画監督です。

1950年代、60年代のフランス映画の新しい潮流「ヌーヴェルヴァーグ」。
リアルタイムで経験したわけではないですが、トリュフォーが亡くなった追悼として上映された「突然炎のごとく」を初めて見た時は、衝撃的でした。僕にとっては、ヨーロッパ映画の楽しみの扉を開けてくれた映画監督ということになります。
1984年に亡くなるまでの25本の全映画に渡って、根底に流れる愛と子供へのオマージュは、どの作品でも魅せられます。人間の美しさや醜さ、そして優しさが心の中に沁みこんでくるのです。
そんなトリュフォーの自伝的映画と言われている「アントワーヌ・ドワネルの冒険」と称されるシリーズが下高井戸シネマで始まっています。今や映画館で上映される機会が中々ない古いフランス映画。是非、見ておきたいと思います。いずれの作品も主人公ドワネルを演じるのは、ジャン・ピエール・レオーというのも興味深いところだと思います。このシリーズは、「トリュフォー+レオー+ドワネル」、3人の人生を描く物語ですね。

下高井戸シネマのレイトショーで放映されるので、仕事の都合をつけて昔のフランス映画三昧はいかがでしょうか。

「単なる喜劇は撮りたくない-人生はかならずしもそれほどでも喜劇的ではないから

ギャング映画は撮れない-ギャングのことはよく知らないし、知りたくもないし、好きにはなれないから
同じ理由で、警官や政治家の出てくる映画も撮りたくはない。

このようにして消去法でわたしのつくりたい映画の主題を選んでいくと、結局は、愛の物語と子供の話にばってしまうのです。もし、映画監督を難破船の船長にたとえることができるなら、「女と子供を先に救え！」という船長の言葉をわたしの映画監督としてのスローガンにしたいと思います。」

僕もトリュフォー大好きですが、あえて一人といわれたらリュック・ベッソンかなあ。考えてみれば「サブウェイ」一本にやられっぱなし・・・てな感じ。この一本の評価です。

実はラストの『南極料理人』しか観れませんでした・・・。
こちらはこちらでオススメですよ。
コミカルで堺雅人さんがやはり良い味、出てました。
演じられた西村さんは実在の人物だそうなので、
原作も読みたくなりましたね。

映画は、映画館で観るのが一番ですが、「南極料理人」は、もうじきＤＶＤがでるようなので、そちらでみてみます。最近、いわゆる昔の「名画座」が少なくなってきて寂しいです。
「早稲田松竹」とか昔の「文芸座」とか好きでした。
南極、行ってみたいです。
