国東半島 六郷満山「ほとけの里」 [九州]
最近は、海水浴というものにもすっかりご無沙汰していて、海にもあまり行かなくなっていますが、海はやはりいいものですね。
風景を眺めていると、ほっとします。
初夏の海は、眩しかったです。
さて、姫島に渡る「伊美港」のある国東半島は、六郷満山と言われ、古くからの信仰の里で、多くのお寺やお堂、石仏が点在しています。
山に囲まれた半島は、修験の道が張り巡らされ、半島の付け根に八幡神宮の総本山「宇佐神宮」が鎮座しています。
これまで、訪れた半島にある寺社の紹介です。
多くのお寺の中で、個人的に一番好きなのが「富貴寺」です。今までみた寺院の中で、唐招提寺の金堂の次に美しいと思うお堂です。
両子寺は、広大です。入り口に鎮座している仁王増が見事です。
泉福寺の仏堂は、草葺屋根が綺麗です。
熊野磨崖仏の不動明王のお顔が好きです。
修験の道の山々。今年は10年ぶりに「峰入り」が行われました。「熊野磨崖仏」から「両子寺」までの150キロの道のりを6日間で歩くというものです。今年は、体験行事として一般募集されていただけに、参加すればよかったと、ちょっと後悔です。
そして、この地域の信仰の源とも言える「宇佐神宮」。全国4万社以上と言われる「八幡信仰」の総本山です。
山に囲まれた地域ということもあって、交通の便はあまり良いとは言えません。半島めぐりには、車が必要かもしれません。大分空港は、国東半島の付け根に位置しています。空港でレンタカー！がお薦めでしょうか。

2枚目の山の写真、空の色に引き込まれてしまいました。泉福寺仏堂の草葺屋根は手入れが相当大変なはずなのに本当にきれいですね。地元の方に大事にされているのが伝わってきます。

オリンパスブルーの為せる技という感じです。どこのお寺も整備されていて信仰の篤い地域だと感じました。ただし、峰入りの一般公開も地元民が減りつつあるという事情があるようです。
