姫島 渡り蝶の立ち寄る島その2 アサギマダラ

渡り蝶「アサギマダラ」は、成虫の大きさは5,6cm程。1年のうちに日本本土と南西諸島、台湾の間を往復している渡り蝶です。
日本では、竹富島、この姫島、長野、能登半島、琵琶湖、岐阜、浜松、埼玉、福島などで群生が見られるようです。




これまでの観測では、直線距離で1500km以上移動した個体や、1日あたり200km以上移動した個体もあるそうです。
ここ姫島は、移動の中間地点の休息場といったところでしょうか。
姫島では、5月中旬から6月上旬に北上の途上、10月に南下する途上の群生を見ることができます。
渡り鳥と違うのは、北上する個体と南下する個体は別だそうです。秋に南下し、南の島で子孫を残し、子の世代が初夏に北上するといった具合です。実際の飛んでる姿は、ユラユラと漂うような優雅な舞いで力強さとは対極の様です。本当に大海を渡っていけるのかと、不思議な感じでした。

海岸沿いのマンホールは、いい感じに朽ちていました。


ここ姫島では、春はスナブキ草の花を好んで群れ、秋はフジバカマの花を目当てに群れているそうです。
訪れた6/6は、すでに北上が進行中とのことで、数十匹の蝶の群れという感じでしたが、最盛期には、数百匹の群れが見れるそうです

姫島灯台の傍でも群れを発見。先ほどの海岸の群生地はほとんどがオスとのこと。
こちらは、メスの群れなのでしょうか？


ユラユラと優雅な舞いです。





１０００羽くらいの個体にマーキングして、移動の実態を調べているとのこと。日付と観測地が記載されています。


蝶の名称の「アサギマダラ」のアサギは、浅葱色からきているとのこと。白く見える部分を良く見ると、半透明の水色です。

この夏に、本州の群生地にも行ってみたいですね。「himeshima」と記載されている蝶に出会えるかもしれません。

アメリカでも同じような蝶の（名前を忘れました）だいいどうがあり、ＴＶで見たことがあります。あの身体のどこにスタミナが隠されているのでしょう？

この蝶の話はTVでもよく見聞きしますが、こんなか弱い蝶がどの様にして
大海原の上を飛んで行くのか、何処で羽根を休めるのか不思議で成りません。

現在、姫島で保存活動をやられている方は、元々、船で観測を始めたのだそうです。どんな風に海を渡っていくのか、みてみたいものです。

最後の写真で少し見えるかと思いますが、一度捕獲して、羽に場所と日付などを記入して放つそうです。今回は、1000羽ほど、マーキングしたそうです。各地で観測していて情報交換して、確認しているようです。
