ロンドン！ 5日目その2 ウィンザー城・イギリスドライブ2 [ロンドン]
12：00頃、ストーンヘンジを後にして、ロンドン近郊の「ウィンザー城」へ。
13：10、ウィンザー城の町に到着！、町の中に入る道がわからず、ウィンザー城を眺めながら、周囲をしばらくぐるぐるしてしまいました。
13：25、ようやく、ウィンザー城の傍の駐車場に到着！
エリザベス女王が週末を過ごす「ウィンザー城」。11世紀にウィリアム征服王がこの地に要塞を築いて以来続いている、イギリス王室の居城。実際に居住されている城としては、最大のものらしい。
重厚なたたずまいの城は、まさに「要塞」といった様相です。
歴代の王侯たちが使用した家具調度品や精巧なドールハウスのあるクィーン・メアリ人形館、レンブラント、ルーベンスなどの作品を見ることができます。「パリに行ったら、ルーブル宮」と同じようにロンドンに行ったら一度は訪れたいところです。
周辺は、のどかな田舎町といった感じです。

14：51、ウィンザー城のまわりの土産モノ屋。さて、ロンドンに帰ります！
16：30、レンタカーを無事、返却し、ロンドンの街に繰り出しました。さて、最後の夜になります。
イギリスのドライブ、中々、楽しかったです。次回の機会があれば、コッツウォルズやはるかスコットランドをドライブなんていいなと思いました。列車とレンタカーの組み合わせの旅もいいかなとも思います。
さて、事前の情報では、「イギリスは、紳士の国なので、運転マナーがいい」という情報と「紳士の国と言われているが、運転マナーは悪い」と両方の情報がありました。実際は、ロンドン市内で、ちょっと加速に失敗した時に、盛大にクラクションを鳴らされたくらいで、、大きなトラブルもなく快適なドライブでした。運転マナーに関しては、東京とそんなに変わらないという感じです。
ドライブに関して、情報をひとつ。ロンドンの中心部に入るには、別途、税金がかかるようです。ロンドン市内を運転する方は、ご注意ください。税金は、レンタカーを借りる時に払うようです。今回のルートでは、必要ありませんでした。ボンドストリート、ピカデリーサーカス、シティだとかに入る場合は必要です。
