東京国立博物館 法隆寺宝物館 [ａｒｔ]
本館に続き「法隆寺宝物館」へ。
「法隆寺宝物館」は、1878年に法隆寺から皇室に献納された「宝物」約300件を保存展示するために、1964年に開館されたものです。現在の建物は2代目で、1999年開館されたものになります。
現在の法隆寺宝物館は、モダンアートの殿堂ＭＯＭＡ（ニューヨーク近代美術館）を設計した「谷口吉生」氏による作品のひとつになります。
宝物献納の経緯については、明治元年の神仏分離・廃仏毀釈で極度に困窮していた法隆寺が、寺の維持のために宝物を献納したものと言われています。（献納の見返りに「下賜金」が法隆寺に）
仏像や金属工芸品、染織品、調度類などが展示されており、大部分は飛鳥・奈良時代のもので、正倉院の宝物に匹敵するコレクションだと言われています。
観音菩薩などの仏像が展示されている展示室は圧巻で、その静謐な空間は、それだけでも訪れる価値があるものです。

モダニズムを極めた谷口氏の建物も必見です。展示品を際立たせるその空間つくりは、さすがです。
併設されている喫茶室や図書館も是非使ってみたいところです。
同じく、谷口氏設計のＭＯＭＡの様子（ここの図書スペースは、あこがれの空間でした）
「谷口吉生」氏の設計は、他に「葛西臨海水族館」や「丸亀市猪熊弦一郎現代美術館」などがあります。丸亀の美術館は、是非、行きたい所です。
ここ「法隆寺宝物館」も、訪れる人は少なく、ゆっくり鑑賞することができます。（撮影条件も本館と同等）
本当にもったいない話です。
